Unlock the power of your hardware buttons with KeyMapper! This open-source app lets you remap a wide range of physical keys for enhanced control and efficiency.
What's Remappable?
KeyMapper offers extensive customization possibilities, allowing you to remap:
- Fingerprint gestures (on compatible devices).
- Volume buttons.
- Navigation buttons.
- Bluetooth and wired keyboard keys.
- Buttons on other connected devices.
Important Note: Only hardware buttons are supported. Software buttons and certain system buttons (see below) cannot be remapped. Functionality is not guaranteed across all devices and this app is not intended for game control. Your device manufacturer may impose limitations.
Creating Custom Keymaps:
Combine multiple keys from various devices to create powerful triggers. Each trigger can execute multiple actions sequentially or simultaneously. Customize your remapping for short presses, long presses, or double presses. Apply constraints to limit trigger activation to specific contexts.
Remapping Limitations:
The following cannot be remapped:
- Power button
- Bixby button
- Mouse buttons
- Game controller D-pad, thumbsticks, and triggers
Keymaps are inactive when the screen is off; this is an Android system limitation.
Action Possibilities:
Numerous actions are available, with some requiring root access or specific Android versions. Explore the comprehensive list of actions here: https://docs.keymapper.club/user-guide/actions
Permissions:
While not all permissions are mandatory, the app will inform you which are required for specific features:
- Accessibility Service: Essential for remapping functionality; allows the app to monitor and intercept key events.
- Device Admin: Needed to turn off the screen using the corresponding action.
- Modify System Settings: Enables control over brightness and screen rotation.
- Camera: Required for flashlight control.
Enabling the accessibility service may disable "enhanced data encryption" on certain devices.
