Baldur's Gate 4 Playable, but Abandoned by Larian

在接受PC Gamer 采访时，Vincke 表示，他们曾开发过《博德之门 3》的续作，并且游戏已经达到可玩阶段，玩家们应该会喜欢。然而，在连续多年专注于龙与地下城系列后，团队并不愿继续投入更多时间。 Vincke 说道：“我们可能需要重做十次。我们真的想再花三年时间做这个吗？”
尽管《博德之门 4》听起来是个好主意，但花费数年时间继续开发同类型的项目，对Vincke和开发团队来说并不具有吸引力。 他们认为是时候追求原创想法了。
Larian Studios士气高昂，积极投入新项目。
Vincke 表示：“我们应该关注如何去做让我们兴奋的事情。” 经过与团队的讨论，他们一致决定转向新的项目。 在2023年游戏大奖之后，Larian Studios 决定不再开发《博德之门 3》的续作。
Vincke 说道：“我认为，自从我们做出（不制作《博德之门 4》）这个决定以来，作为开发者，我们从未感觉如此轻松。说实话，你真的无法解释或表达我们有多么自由。所以士气非常高涨，仅仅是因为我们正在做新的东西。”
高级产品经理Tom Butler当时表示：“我们会继续打补丁一段时间，然后我们都会休假，然后我们会弄清楚接下来做什么。” 由于同样的原因，《博德之门 4》和《博德之门 3》的资料片都被搁置了，Larian 现在专注于他们即将推出的两个未公开的项目，Vincke 表示这将是他们迄今为止最伟大的作品。
