Castle Doombad is back! The tower defense strategy game, originally released in 2014, returns as Castle Doombad: Free To Slay on Android, courtesy of Grumpyface Studios and Yodo1.

Grumpyface, known for hits like Steven Universe: Attack the Light and Teeny Titans, initially planned a single remake. However, they've split the project into two: Free To Slay for mobile and Castle Doombad Classic (a remastered version with updated content) for Nintendo Switch and Steam (releasing later this year). A sequel, Castle Doombad 2: Muahaha!, is also in development.

The free-to-play game (with ads and optional in-app purchases) features 70 stages, daily challenges, endless modes, over 30 unlockable and upgradeable traps, and over 100 collectible items. An unlockable cosmetic system, "spoils," lets you customize your Dark Lord and his lair with evil artifacts. These can be paired with equippable "Baddie Bonus" perks.

A new roguelite mode, "Dr. Lord Evilstein's Roguevenge," adds randomly generated castle layouts and collectible Nightmares that grant unique villainous powers. Download it now from the Google Play Store.
