Romancing SaGa Re:universe Global Server Closure Announced
The global version of Romancing SaGa Re:universe will officially cease operations on December 2nd, 2024. While this news may come as a surprise to some, the Japanese version will continue running.
Only Two Months Remain
With the shutdown date fast approaching, in-app purchases of jewels and Google Play Points exchanges have already been discontinued following the September 29th, 2024 maintenance.
Launched in June 2020, the global server's four-year run is coming to a close. Despite its impressive visuals, captivating soundtrack, and generous gacha system, the game received a mixed reception.
Unlike its highly popular Japanese counterpart, the global version failed to resonate with all players. The absence of significant content updates, such as the Solistia expansion and 6-star unit upgrades (available in Japan for nearly a year), contributed to player dissatisfaction and ultimately impacted the game's long-term viability.
Community Reaction
Square Enix, the developer, has already closed several mobile titles this year, including Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius and two Dragon Quest mobile games. The closure of Romancing SaGa Re:universe's global server adds to this list.
A Classic Turn-Based RPG
Based on the beloved SaGa series, Romancing SaGa Re:universe offers a traditional turn-based RPG experience. Players have two months left to enjoy the game, and those unfamiliar with it can download it from the Google Play Store.
