Bandai Namco has announced the discontinuation of PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary celebration this year. Launched over a decade ago, this version of the game has been a cherished part of the mobile gaming landscape.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued starting April 1st. If you're still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final day.

Many players have voiced their disappointment with Bandai Namco's decision to shut down the game entirely, rather than transitioning it to an offline mode. Such a move would have been welcomed by the community and could have continued generating revenue for the company.

This version of PAC-MAN, originally known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just classic arcade thrills. In addition to the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it featured a Story Mode with a plethora of original mazes to navigate. The Adventure Mode included limited-time themed events, allowing players to earn exclusive skins. Meanwhile, the Tournament Mode provided weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels. The game also boasted a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, ghosts, the joystick, and more.

The Reason

The game's performance had deteriorated over the past few years, with accumulating bugs and issues likely contributing to the decision to shut it down. Reflecting on the initial excitement at its Android launch, it's clear that the game once captured the hearts of players striving for high scores and leaderboard dominance. Those were indeed fun times.
