TSA Alerts: Don't Fly with Call of Duty Zombies Monkey Bomb Figurine
If you're a fan of video games and considering picking up some game-inspired replicas or figurines while traveling, it's crucial to be cautious, especially with items resembling Call of Duty weapons. This advice stems from a recent post by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) about prohibited items. As noted by Dexerto, the TSA's Facebook account highlighted a Monkey Bomb replica figurine from Call of Duty's Zombies mode that was discovered in a checked bag at Boston Logan International Airport.
The Monkey Bomb, or Cymbal Monkey, is a familiar feature in various Call of Duty titles, from World at War to Black Ops 6. This particular figurine is designed as a controller holder, with its hands outstretched to support your favorite game controller. However, it also mimics a weapon with its dynamite and cables, which raises security concerns.
The TSA's post humorously noted, "This monkey may rack up points in a game, but in real life, leave the gear for your loadout screen, not your baggage." They emphasized that replica weapons and explosives, no matter how appealing or collectible, are not permitted in either carry-on or checked baggage.
The TSA's website elaborates on prohibited toy weapons, including "squirt guns, Nerf guns, toy swords, or other items that resemble realistic firearms or weapons." This might inadvertently highlight the realistic quality of the Monkey Bomb replica, but it's a clear reminder of the rules.
It's essential to keep this in mind, especially if you're heading to a convention or an event where you might purchase such merchandise. Whether it's a Monkey Bomb figurine or a set of Naruto-themed throwing knives, the TSA strictly prohibits any item in checked or carry-on baggage if it's deemed a potential security threat, even if it's just a replica.
