R.E.P.O Console Release Confirmed
*R.E.P.O.,* the co-op horror game that has captivated over 200,000 PC players since its February launch, is currently making waves in the gaming community. However, console gamers eager to dive into this thrilling experience might be left waiting indefinitely. As it stands, *R.E.P.O.* is exclusively available on PC, and there's no confirmed news from its developer, semiwork, about a potential console release.
The team at semiwork is deeply focused on refining the game’s multiplayer component, which is central to *R.E.P.O.*'s gameplay. They're currently grappling with a significant challenge: balancing the need to prevent cheating in multiplayer lobbies without alienating the community that enjoys using mods. As the developer explained to PCGamer, "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that." This issue must be resolved before any thoughts of porting the game to consoles can be entertained.
While other PC-exclusive titles like *Mouthwashing* have successfully transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the porting process. Similarly themed games such as *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*—both of which involve sneaking past monsters—have also stayed PC-exclusive. Last year, the developers of *Content Warning* hinted at a possible console port, but technical difficulties have since stalled any progress on this front.
So, for those wondering if *R.E.P.O.* will make its way to consoles, the answer remains uncertain. The developer's current priority is squarely on enhancing the multiplayer experience for PC players, with no plans announced for a console version.
