No Plans For Competitive Pocket

Currently, there are no plans for Pokémon TCG Pocket to join the Pokémon competitive circuit. In an interview with VGC on February 25, 2025, The Pokémon Company’s Director of eSports, Chris Brown, mentioned that while they continuously evaluate potential additions to the competitive scene, Pokémon TCG Pocket isn't on the immediate horizon.

Brown humorously referenced the Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament, an April Fool's parody, before clarifying, "But at this time, there are no plans for Pokémon Pocket to join, though we're always keeping an eye on things."

Too Early And Unbalanced

While no official reasons have been given for excluding Pokémon TCG Pocket from the competitive scene, fan speculation points to the game's nascent stage. Launched in October 2024, the game has only released two sets in its first four months, suggesting it might still be too early for competitive play.

Despite including competitive features since its launch, the community has called for better balance adjustments. Pokémon TCG Pocket, being a simplified and more beginner-friendly version of the traditional card game, might not align with the intense competitive environment the circuit demands.

Nevertheless, the Pokémon Competitive Circuit offers a variety of events for fans, including Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokémon Unite, all set to feature in the upcoming Pokémon World Championships in August 2025, in Anaheim, California.
