"GTA 5 Enhanced Edition Receives Lowest User Reviews on Steam"

Rockstar's newly released Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced, launched on March 4, has been met with a lukewarm reception on Steam. Despite offering a free upgrade for PC players that includes features previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions of GTA Online, such as new vehicles, performance upgrades at Hao’s Special Works, animal encounters, and the ability to purchase a GTA+ Membership, the game has received a 'mixed' user review rating. Only 54% of the 19,772 user reviews have been positive, making it the lowest-rated GTA title on Steam. For comparison, the original GTA 5, now unlisted at Rockstar's request, enjoys a 'very positive' rating.

The primary issue plaguing GTA 5 Enhanced is the account migration process, which has failed many players. Numerous negative reviews highlight this problem, with players expressing frustration over being unable to transfer their Story Mode and Online progress. One review stated, "The GTA Online profile associated with this Rockstar Games account is not eligible for migration at this time," reflecting the sentiment that the new version is seen as a downgrade compared to the legacy version.

Despite these challenges, GTA 5 Enhanced has still managed to attract a significant player base, with a peak concurrent player count of 187,059 on Steam since its launch. However, the issues have raised concerns among PC gamers about the future release of Grand Theft Auto 6, which is set to launch in the fall of 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with no confirmed PC release date. A former Rockstar developer has asked PC gamers to be patient, suggesting that the studio deserves the "benefit of the doubt" regarding its launch strategy.

In related news, Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar, is embroiled in a lawsuit against PlayerAuctions, accusing the marketplace of hosting unauthorized GTA 5 content. Meanwhile, Rockstar has acquired and rebranded Video Games Deluxe, the developer behind Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, as Rockstar Australia.
