Capcom recently shared a pre-release community update for Monster Hunter Wilds, addressing console specifications, weapon refinements, and more. This update clarifies system requirements and provides insights into post-Open Beta Test (OBT) improvements.

Console Performance Goals Unveiled
The developers confirmed a day-one patch for the PS5 Pro, enhancing graphical fidelity. Their December 19th livestream detailed console performance targets. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will offer "Prioritize Graphics" (4K/30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p/60fps) modes. Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p/30fps. A rendering bug affecting the framerate mode has been resolved.
While PS5 Pro enhancements were mentioned, specific details remain undisclosed.
PC specifications, previously announced, will be adjusted to broaden accessibility. The team is actively working to lower minimum requirements, with specifics to be revealed closer to launch. Capcom is also exploring the possibility of releasing a PC benchmark tool.
Potential for a Second Open Beta Test
A second OBT is under consideration, primarily to give players who missed the first opportunity a chance to experience the game. However, it won't include the improvements detailed in the livestream; those will be exclusive to the full release.
The livestream also covered adjustments to hitstop and sound effects for increased impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon refinements, particularly for the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds launches February 28th, 2025, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
