Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown!

Love Sudoku and crave some friendly competition? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version where you face off against other players or teams. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all numbers from 1 to 9.

Before diving in, choose your difficulty (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest) in the game options. This sets the initial numbers on the grid, which all players solve simultaneously. Everyone starts with the identical puzzle.

Game Modes:

The game offers two modes, selectable in the options:

• Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correctly placed number is visible to all players. You earn points for correct numbers, but can't place a number already used by another player. Speed and accuracy are key!
• Hidden Correct Numbers: Only your own grid is visible. Players can use the same numbers, making it a race to the finish.

Time-Outs and Scoring:

Incorrect numbers result in a time-out (default 30 seconds, configurable). Correct numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct number. Incorrect entries cost you half the points you would have gained.

Winning the Game:

The game ends when the puzzle is solved. In the "Show Opponent's Correct Numbers" mode, the player with the highest score wins. If this option is disabled, the game ends when one player solves the puzzle, though this doesn't grant extra points; other players can still win with fewer mistakes.

Team Play:

Team play allows two teams to compete. Choose your team (1 or 2) upon joining. At least two players per team are required. Points are added to the team's total score, and notes/filled colors are shared amongst teammates, enabling collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar under the puzzle offers:

• Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to empty squares. Clicking a number already present removes it.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of any square.
