Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams of two players each, seated opposite one another. Using a standard 52-card deck, play proceeds counter-clockwise. Each player attempts to estimate the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team can win in a round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" (trump) initiates a "paper throw" round. Other players must match the type of paper thrown. The player who throws the matching paper wins the round. "Tarneeb" papers are superior to all others; only a stronger "Tarneeb" paper can defeat it. The round concludes when all players have thrown their papers.
Point accounting is crucial:
- Successful Bid: If a team achieves their bid or more "Allmat," they add the number of "Allmat" won to their score. The opposing team receives no points.
- Unsuccessful Bid: If a team fails to reach their bid, the number of "Allmat" they won is deducted from their score, and the number of "Allmat" the opposing team won is added to their score.
A "Wig 13" (winning 13 tricks) adds 16 points to the winning team's score; if a team bids for and achieves Wig 13, they receive 26 points. Failure to achieve a bid of Wig 13 results in a 16-point deduction.
The game ends when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points, declaring them the victor.
