HBO's acclaimed The Last of Us series is poised for a four-season run, according to an executive.

Francesca Orsi, an HBO executive, hinted at a four-season arc for the popular adaptation, clarifying that while there's no finalized plan, "it's looking like" three additional seasons beyond the current one are anticipated. Orsi stated to Deadline, "I wouldn't want to confirm that, but it's looking like this season and then two more seasons after this, and we're done."

Regarding the highly anticipated Season 2, premiering in April 2025, Orsi teased: "There's certain elements in terms of the various factions that are competing for survival that reveal themselves as a really intriguing survivalist group, and I think they just have a quality to them that feels distinct in how they present it." She further emphasized the show's unique visual presentation: "There’s a certain way [the show] is presenting them in wardrobe and makeup that feels really different than the average person."

Catch up on Season 1 before Season 2 premieres in April! Unlike Season 1, which adapted the first game's entirety, Season 2 will span The Last of Us Part II over multiple episodes, utilizing a "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes.

Season 2 will introduce several new characters, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel. Catherine O'Hara's role remains undisclosed.
