7 Days To Die: How To Complete Infested Clear Missions (And Why They Are Worth Doing)
Quick Links
In the zombie-infested world of 7 Days To Die, mission variety keeps the gameplay exciting. While some missions, like buried treasure hunts, are relatively straightforward, others—like infested clear missions—present a significant challenge. These missions unlock as you progress through trader tiers, demanding increasing skill and preparation. Confronting hordes of undead within infested buildings offers substantial rewards in experience, loot, and rare items. This guide details everything you need to know about conquering these challenging missions.
How To Start An Infested Clear Mission
To begin any mission, visit one of the five traders in a standard map: Rekt, Jen, Bob, Hugh, or Joe. The trader's identity is less crucial than the mission's location and tier. Higher tiers mean greater difficulty, and the biome significantly impacts enemy types and strength. For example, forest missions have fewer ferals than wasteland missions.
Infested missions become available after unlocking Tier 2 missions, requiring the completion of 10 Tier 1 missions. These missions are considerably harder than standard clear missions, featuring larger numbers of tougher zombies—radiated zombies, cops, and ferals. Tier 6 infested missions are the game's most challenging, but by that point, you should be well-equipped to handle them. Regardless of tier, the objective remains the same: eliminate all enemies within a designated area.
Completing An Infested Clear Mission
Upon reaching the Point of Interest (POI), activate the mission marker. This prevents leaving the area; straying too far results in mission failure. Death also leads to failure, as you respawn outside the mission zone.
Each POI has trigger points—events activated by entering specific areas. These could involve collapsing floors or ambushes. To avoid these, explore alternative routes; the game often guides you along lit paths. Avoiding these paths helps you circumvent traps.
Carrying building blocks is highly recommended. They enable quick escapes from traps or allow you to bypass enemies by scaling buildings.
While clearing the POI, track zombies using the red dots at the screen's top; larger dots indicate closer proximity.
Focus on headshots, the zombies' weak point. However, some enemies have unique abilities:
| Zombie Type | Abilities | How To Handle Them |
|---|---|---|
| Cops | Spit toxic vomit and explode when injured | Watch for their head-throw before spitting; maintain distance to avoid the blast zone. |
| Spiders | Jump across large distances | Listen for their screech before they jump; aim for quick headshots. |
| Screamers | Scream to summon other zombies | Prioritize eliminating them to prevent overwhelming hordes. |
| Demolition Zombies | Carry a glowing explosive package | Avoid hitting their chest; if the explosive starts beeping, run! |
The final room often contains high-tier loot, but it also usually holds the largest concentration of zombies. Ensure you're fully healed, your weapons are loaded and durable, and you know the escape route before entering.
Once all zombies are eliminated, the objective changes; report back to the trader to claim your reward. Before leaving, collect all loot, including the infested cache containing valuable ammo, magazines, and other items.
Infested Clear Mission Rewards
The trader offers a random reward, influenced by several factors:
- Game Stage
- Loot Stage (boosted by the Lucky Looter skill and Treasure Hunter mod)
- Tier Selection (higher tiers yield better rewards)
- Skillpoint Selection (the "A Daring Adventurer" perk increases Dukes earned and, at rank 4, allows selecting two rewards).
Investing in "A Daring Adventurer" is highly recommended for maximizing rewards, especially rare items like solar cells, crucibles, or legendary parts. After claiming rewards, sell unwanted items to the trader for additional XP.
