Amazon has introduced a new version of its popular voice assistant, Alexa+. Currently available in Early Access, Alexa+ is designed to offer a more conversational, smarter, and personalized experience. This upgraded assistant, powered by generative AI, aims to help users accomplish tasks with greater ease and natural flow in their interactions. According to Amazon, "Alexa+ is more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done."

At the moment, Alexa+ Early Access is exclusive to a select range of Echo Show devices, including the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you own or are considering purchasing one of these devices, you can sign up for notifications about when Early Access will be available. Post the Early Access phase, Alexa+ will become a free benefit for Amazon Prime members, or available to non-Prime users for a monthly fee of $19.99.

With its conversational approach, Alexa+ allows you to ask anything that comes to mind, helping you with tasks such as completing your to-do list, retrieving specific details from your calendar, and making restaurant reservations, among others. Amazon's Alexa+ Early Access page highlights that "new features are being added regularly," suggesting that users can expect more enhancements and capabilities as the Early Access period progresses.

However, not all devices are compatible with Alexa+. Older generation Echo devices, including the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen, will continue to use the original Alexa. Amazon has plans to expand Alexa+ to additional devices such as Fire TV, Fire tablets, and Alexa.com in the near future.
