Alien Movie Chronological Viewing Guide
The Xenomorph, from the *Alien* franchise, reigns supreme as one of cinema's most terrifying creations. Its acid blood, terrifying double-mouthed maw, and wicked claws practically invented the subgenre of space horror, giving generations nightmares. With *Alien: Romulus* now streaming, you might be itching for a complete *Alien* marathon (including the *Alien vs. Predator* films, which *do* take place on Earth). But what's the best viewing order? We've got you covered with both chronological and release date options.

The Alien Movies in Chronological Order

How Many Alien Movies Are There?
There are nine films in the *Alien* franchise: four main entries, two *Predator* crossovers, two Ridley Scott prequels, and the newest addition, a standalone film from Fede Álvarez.

Alien Movies in Chronological Order
1. AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)
Chronologically, the Xenomorph saga begins with *AVP: Alien vs. Predator*. This 2004 film, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, depicts the Predators' long history of hunting Xenomorphs on Earth, cultivated through human sacrifices to a Xenomorph Queen. The Predators' 2004 hunting trip, needless to say, goes horribly wrong.

2. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
Also set in the modern era, *Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem* follows directly from the first crossover film. A Predalien is loose in a small Colorado town, leading to a Predator's intervention and ensuing chaos. This marks the final crossover in the franchise.
