Amazon's highly anticipated God of War TV series, based on the iconic 2018 video game, is already set for a two-season run, as confirmed by the show's new showrunner, Ronald D. Moore. Moore, who stepped in after the departure of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, shared insights into his involvement during a conversation with Katee Sackhoff, his former colleague from Battlestar Galactica.

"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, a major title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of, and they've asked me to come in," Moore explained. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a seasoned gamer, Moore expressed his familiarity with classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern game controllers, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."

In his new role, Moore will not only serve as the showrunner but also as a writer and executive producer for the God of War series. His extensive experience includes working on acclaimed shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and the 2000s revival of Battlestar Galactica.

While the previous team saw some changes, Sony's Cory Barlog remains an executive producer, ensuring continuity with the game's vision. Although details about the series are still emerging, it is confirmed that the show will be based on the 2018 God of War game.

Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations, such as the Fallout TV show and Secret Level, following their successful launches, suggest a promising future for the God of War series on the streaming platform.
