Inspired by the Arthurian legends, Tides of Annihilation casts players as Gwendolyn, a young woman fighting alongside spectral knights to save her family and mend a fractured world. The game unfolds in a ravaged, modern-day London, overrun by a mysterious otherworldly invasion. Hordes of enemies infest the streets, forcing Gwendolyn and her ghostly allies into relentless combat. Massive, roaming knight-like creatures form the game's primary opposition, requiring players to scale and engage in thrilling, close-quarters battles atop these colossal foes.

While visually impressive, Tides of Annihilation falls short in one crucial area: its narrative. Recent soulslike games have successfully reimagined classic stories, such as the relatively unknown "Journey to the West" and the surprisingly twisted tale of Pinocchio in Lies of P. However, the King Arthur legend is well-trodden territory, leaving Tides of Annihilation, despite its visual splendor, lacking a truly unique narrative hook.
