App Army Assemble: A Fragile Mind - \"Will this puzzler leave you scratching your head?\"
This week, Pocket Gamer's App Army tackled the puzzle adventure A Fragile Mind from Glitch Games. The game, a twist on the classic escape room formula with added humor, received mixed reviews. While some praised its challenging yet engaging puzzles and witty writing, others criticized its presentation.
Here's what our App Army had to say:
Swapnil Jadhav
Initially, the game's logo seemed uninspired, leading to low expectations. However, A Fragile Mind surprised with unique gameplay and cleverly designed, challenging puzzles. It's highly recommended, especially on a tablet for optimal experience.

Max Williams
This point-and-click adventure uses static, pre-rendered graphics. The narrative is unclear, but the gameplay involves solving increasingly complex puzzles across multiple floors of a building. Interestingly, completing all puzzles on a floor isn't necessary to progress, and some puzzles require items obtained on subsequent floors. The game incorporates clever fourth-wall breaks, such as describing an item's graphic as "not detailed enough to be important." While the hint system is helpful, it's perhaps too readily available. Navigation could be improved, especially in the later stages. Despite these minor flaws, A Fragile Mind is a strong example of the genre.

Robert Maines
A Fragile Mind is a first-person puzzle adventure where players wake up in a building's garden with amnesia. Progress involves exploring, taking photos, finding clues, and solving puzzles. While the graphics and sound aren't groundbreaking, they are adequate. The puzzles are challenging, requiring occasional walkthrough assistance. Although relatively short, it's a worthwhile experience for puzzle adventure fans.

Torbjörn Kämblad
While enjoying escape-room style puzzlers, this reviewer found A Fragile Mind underwhelming. The muddy presentation hindered puzzle identification, and UI design choices, such as the menu button placement, added frustration. The pacing felt off, with too many puzzles available from the start, leading to disorientation and early reliance on hints.

Mark Abukoff
Typically avoiding difficult puzzle games, this reviewer found A Fragile Mind surprisingly enjoyable. The aesthetic, atmosphere, and hint system were praised. The puzzles were intriguing, and the hint system was deemed helpful without being overly intrusive. Overall, a satisfying, albeit short, experience.
Diane Close
The game is described as a puzzle-heavy experience, comparing it to a giant Jenga game. Multiple clues and puzzles exist within each room, requiring simultaneous problem-solving. The reviewer emphasizes the importance of taking in-game photos and notes. The game plays flawlessly on Android and offers excellent visual and sound options, as well as strong accessibility features. It's a fun, humorous experience, taking approximately an hour for experienced players.
