Previously, Dumont had likened Shadows to earlier entries such as Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. However, given the significant variation in length among these titles, such comparisons were not particularly insightful. Recognizing the challenges in gauging open-world game durations, Dumont clarified that Shadows aligns more closely with the scope of Origins. According to How Long To Beat, Origins requires roughly 30 hours to complete the main campaign, with completionists spending upwards of 80 hours to experience everything.
