Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator's Global Server to Shut Down

Another mobile game is closing its doors. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have announced the end of service (EOS) for the global version of their RPG, Atelier Resleriana. The news comes just over a year after the game's global launch in January 2024, indicating performance challenges. However, it's important to note that the Japanese version, launched in September 2023, remains operational and is preparing for its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025.

Ironically, the global server's shutdown coincides with the Japanese server's 1.5th anniversary celebration. In-game purchases are already disabled, but players can still utilize any remaining Lodestar Gems. Koei Tecmo promises continued content and events leading up to the closure. This is particularly poignant given the global version's recent first anniversary on January 25th.

Reasons for Closure

Developers cited an inability to maintain satisfactory player standards as the reason for the shutdown. The game struggled to gain traction, with player complaints surfacing about the gacha system almost immediately after launch. While the main characters were well-received, gameplay, monetization, and excessive power creep ultimately contributed to the game's underperformance and subsequent EOS announcement.
