"Avowed Beginner's Guide Released"

*Avowed* has hit the shelves, and Obsidian's latest RPG is a gem for both seasoned players and newcomers. If you're new to RPGs, don't worry—here are some tips to help you dive into the world of *Avowed* with confidence.

Know the Basics

Like many RPGs, *Avowed* revolves around earning XP through quests, defeating enemies, and exploring. As you accumulate XP, you'll level up, gaining attribute and ability points to customize your character. Whether you want to be a formidable warrior or a masterful wizard, the choice is yours. Attributes shape your character's strengths, and if you're like me, you might opt for the scholar class to indulge in the rich lore. The best part? *Avowed* lets you reallocate your points, making it incredibly beginner-friendly.

Explore Avowed’s World

Avowed World Exploration

While *Avowed* isn't a fully open world, it offers a semi-linear experience that encourages exploration. Sure, the main quest markers are there to guide you, but don't be afraid to stray off the beaten path. Exploring buildings, caves, and new areas can yield valuable loot and resources. Side quests are plentiful and often easy, providing a great way to earn XP.

Immerse yourself in the story by reading books and notes scattered around. Obsidian's storytelling is top-notch, and these items enrich the narrative. Keep an eye out for treasure maps, too—they lead to special gear and coins, which are essential for your journey. Exploring also helps you amass gold, which you can use to upgrade your gear and prepare for tougher battles. Rushing through the story might leave you under-equipped, so take your time to explore and strengthen your character.

Stock Up On Health and Essence Potions

Combat in *Avowed* can be challenging, especially for newcomers. Balancing physical and essence attacks while monitoring your health and essence bars is key. Health and essence potions are your go-to items: health potions restore a significant amount of health, and essence potions refill your essence bar. You'll find these potions in the world and at vendors in cities; they're easy to spot with their bright red and pink hues.

However, use them wisely. If you're only slightly hurt, opt for the food you've gathered instead of using a health potion. Some food and herbs can also cure ailments like poison, so save those for when you really need them. Reserve your health potions for when your health is dangerously low—unlike in *Call of Duty*, you don't need to use them after every encounter.

Give Your Companions Some Love

Avowed Companions

When you level up, you'll receive points to enhance your character's skills and attributes, which impact combat and dialogue options. But don't overlook your companions. Neglecting their upgrades can lead to frustrating restarts after tough battles. Your companions are crucial in combat and can even heal you and the party. Keeping them strong ensures they can handle enemy swarms and contribute to your victories.

Upgrade Your Gear

As you explore, you'll gather resources that can be used to upgrade your weapons and gear. At camp, there's a station where you can enhance your equipment. Early on, you'll switch gear often, so be selective with your upgrades. Investing in better gear can significantly boost your attack power, critical chance, and damage protection, making it a worthwhile endeavor.

Have Fun and Play Your Way

Avowed Gameplay

RPGs like *Avowed* are about getting lost in another world. Whether you focus on the main story or dive into every side quest, the choice is yours. The beauty of *Avowed* lies in creating your own story within the Living Lands. So, save the world your way, and most importantly, have fun doing it.

And that's a beginner's guide to *Avowed*. Enjoy your journey!

*Avowed is available now on PC and Xbox.*
