Developed by a single person, Balatro not only garnered widespread critical acclaim but also achieved phenomenal commercial success, surpassing an incredible 5 million copies sold!

Just over a month ago, developer LocalThunk celebrated reaching 3.5 million sales. This means Balatro sold an additional 1.5 million copies in approximately 40 days—a staggering increase likely attributed to the impact of The Game Awards, as hinted at by the developer on Twitter.

Harvey Elliott, CEO of publisher Playstack, lauded this milestone as an incredible achievement, expressing immense pride in both LocalThunk and Playstack's team.

Even nearly a year after its release, Balatro continues to flourish. This innovative card-based roguelike regularly receives updates, including exciting collaborations, and recently reached a new all-time high for concurrent players on Steam.
