While initially intended for combat, this ability became a central romantic element, reflecting Halsin's emotional struggles. Welch revealed this wasn't the original plan, but rather a direct result of fan desires for a "daddy Halsin" romance. He confirmed that Halsin wasn't initially conceived as a romantic interest.

Welch emphasized the enduring power of fanfiction in maintaining a game's community engagement, particularly romance storylines which, he noted, fuel fan creations for years.
