BioWare's Dragon Age: The Veilguard Director Departs, Fans Fear Studio Closure

It seems that the acclaimed game Dragon Age: The Veilguard is not from the Dragon Age series, and its success has brought some unsettling news about BioWare to light. Recently, the internet has been buzzing with rumors about the potential closure of BioWare Edmonton and the departure of The Veilguard's game director. These rumors originated from sources labeled as "agenda fighters," casting doubt on their credibility.

However, Eurogamer journalists have confirmed that at least one part of these rumors holds true: Corinne Boucher, a long-time employee of EA with about 18 years of service, primarily with The Sims franchise, will be leaving BioWare in the coming weeks. Despite this confirmation, Eurogamer has no information supporting the speculation about the closure of BioWare Edmonton, the developer behind The Veilguard.

Critics have mixed feelings about The Veilguard. Some have hailed it as a masterpiece, proclaiming the "old BioWare is back," while others view it as a solid role-playing game that, despite its merits, lacks the greatness of a true classic. At the time of writing, there were no negative Metacritic reviews for the game. Many reviewers have lauded The Veilguard for its dynamic and engaging action role-playing gameplay, especially at higher difficulty levels, which keeps players thoroughly engaged.

However, not all reviews were glowing. VGC, for instance, criticized The Veilguard's gameplay for feeling "stuck in the past," suggesting that it doesn't introduce anything particularly new or innovative to the genre.
