Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration

Treyarch is celebrating 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the highly anticipated reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This annual January 15th event brings a comprehensive blog detailing upcoming zombie-themed surprises.

The Tomb, a desert-themed map, will launch with Season 2 on January 28th, adding to the Zombies universe just weeks after Season 1's Citadelle des Morts.

The narrative follows Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya as they investigate an excavation site based on Gabriel Krafft's clues, seeking the Sentinel Artifact. This site, ancient burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E., holds secrets that run deeper than imagined. The Tomb's connection to British archaeologist Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe remains shrouded in mystery.

Gameplay-wise, The Tomb offers a similar experience to Liberty Falls, featuring compact play areas designed for high replayability and numerous Easter eggs. Treyarch also teased a reimagined Wonder Weapon drawing inspiration from past titles and the return of a classic SMG.

Season 2 also promises significant quality-of-life improvements, including community-requested features such as tracking up to 10 Calling Card and Camo challenges across Zombies and Multiplayer modes. A co-op pause option for Zombies is introduced, allowing the party leader to pause gameplay. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be implemented, and players will be able to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadouts if disconnected.

To commemorate 115 Day, players will receive double GobbleGum earn rates and double XP for players, weapons, and battle passes until 10 AM PT on January 21st. Treyarch also shared impressive statistics for the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing over 480 million hours played, with the average Main Quest completion rate more than doubling since its launch.

The impact of the SAG-AFTRA strike on the voice acting for The Tomb's characters is also acknowledged, following Activision's previous announcement of recasting some roles.
