Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, recently showcased their upcoming open-world dark fantasy action RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, at a game reveal event. The game promises a narrative-driven experience set in the fictional 14th-century medieval European land of Vale Sangora.

Meet Coen, the Dawnwalker

Players take on the role of Coen, a Dawnwalker – a being existing in the liminal space between human and vampire. Unlike typical protagonists, Coen is portrayed as emotionally vulnerable and relatable. His journey begins with a race against time – 30 days and nights – to save his family from the tyrannical vampire Brencis, who has plunged Vale Sangora into darkness. While the game features a time constraint, the developers emphasize a flexible gameplay pace. Coen possesses unique abilities stemming from his vampiric nature, including superhuman agility and the capacity for occult magic.

A Narrative Sandbox with Choices

The game's design emphasizes player agency. Rebel Wolves describes The Blood of Dawnwalker as a "narrative sandbox," offering players significant control over the story's progression. While the overarching goal remains consistent, the path to achieving it is highly non-linear, with player choices shaping the world and its inhabitants.
