Cancelled Coyote vs. Acme Might Make It to the Big Screen After All

According to Deadline, Warner Bros.' previously shelved movie, Coyote vs. Acme, might finally hit the screens thanks to ongoing negotiations with Los Angeles-based independent film company, Ketchup Entertainment. Although the deal isn't finalized yet, a successful negotiation could lead to a theatrical release of the film in 2026.

Originally announced in 2022, Coyote vs. Acme is inspired by a 1990 Ian Frazier article in The New Yorker. The film, co-written by James Gunn and featuring Will Forte and John Cena, was set for a mid-2023 release on Max. Despite completing production, it was shelved, sparking a dedicated campaign to revive the project.

Ketchup Entertainment has a track record of saving films from cancellation. They recently secured a theatrical release for Warner Bros.' The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, marking it as the first fully animated Looney Tunes film to premiere in cinemas. IGN praised it as a "laugh-out-loud riot."

Ketchup Entertainment's portfolio also includes Hellboy: The Crooked Man and the Robert Rodriguez thriller Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck. They also co-produced Michael Mann's 2023 Ferrari biopic, showcasing their commitment to bringing diverse and compelling films to audiences.
