The Crew 2's new offline mode is now live, giving players the option to enjoy the racing MMO without an internet connection. Dubbed Hybrid Mode, this feature is detailed on the publisher's website.

Ubisoft states that Hybrid Mode offers the "freedom to choose" your playstyle. This means you can stick with the online experience—the original vision of the game featuring multiplayer, leaderboards, summits, and community sharing—or opt for the newly introduced offline mode.

"Whether you want to preserve your progression for the future or simply enjoy playing without a connection, Hybrid Mode ensures The Crew 2 remains accessible for years to come," the publisher explains.

To transfer your progress to offline mode, simply select "Export to Offline Save" after an online session. This creates a local copy of your current multiplayer progression on your PC or console. Note that online and offline saves are separate; progress made offline won't sync back to your online profile. You can, however, re-export your online save to update the offline file at any time.

Custom vehicle liveries will not transfer to offline saves.

The announcement for this offline mode followed last year's shutdown of the original The Crew in March 2024. That shutdown, which left players—who had purchased the game—unable to play even solo, understandably raised concerns about The Crew 2 facing a similar fate.

"We heard your concerns about access to The Crew games," Ubisoft stated last year. "Today, we want to express our commitment to the future of The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest. We can confirm an offline mode to ensure long-term access to both titles."

Following the original game's shutdown, Ubisoft faced a lawsuit. In response, the publisher argued that purchasing a game does not grant players "unfettered ownership rights," but rather a "limited license to access the game."
