"Far Cry 4 Achieves 60fps on PS5"

11 years after its debut, Far Cry 4 now runs at a smooth 60 frames per second (fps) on PlayStation 5.
As first noticed by user gael_74 and shared on the Far Cry 4 subreddit, the game’s update notes for Version 1.08 confirm that "support 60 FPS on PS5 console" has been added.
This enhancement makes it a perfect time to revisit Far Cry 4 if you’ve never experienced it before. The game delivers one of the most memorable villains in the series—Pagan Min—and immerses players in a sprawling, vibrant open world. Set against the majestic Himalayas, the environment isn’t just visually stunning—it's an interactive playground designed for combat, exploration, and adventure.
As noted in IGN’s 8.5/10 review, “Far Cry 4 has weak characters, but its campaign, co-op, and competitive multiplayer offer incredibly fun freedom.”

Far Cry 4 joins a growing list of Ubisoft titles originally built for PS4 that have received performance updates for newer hardware. Others include Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. Naturally, this has sparked hopes among fans for similar upgrades to other beloved entries like Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3.
However, some players feel the timing couldn't be worse: “You are kidding right. I just platinumed the game, like, three days ago,” one frustrated player lamented.
In related news, Ubisoft recently launched a new subsidiary focused on expanding its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchises. The move comes with a significant €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Chinese tech giant Tencent.
This follows hot on the heels of Assassin's Creed Shadows surpassing 3 million players—a hopeful sign for Ubisoft after a rough stretch that included several high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations. With investor confidence and player expectations rising, the company is under immense pressure to deliver a hit as its stock price hits record lows.
In another nod to legacy support, Ubisoft also quietly added Steam Achievements to the 12-year-old title Splinter Cell: Blacklist earlier today.
