Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Unavailable for PS Plus Redemptions

Days Gone Remastered was a highlight of Sony's recent State of Play showcase, but the announcement has stirred some discontent among PlayStation Plus subscribers due to its $10 upgrade policy.
Sony has clarified that the $10 upgrade to the remastered version on PlayStation 5 is exclusively available to those who own the PlayStation 4 disc or a digital copy of Days Gone. Unfortunately, this means that players who obtained the game through the PS Plus subscription service, including those who redeemed it from the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or as an Essential monthly game in April 2021, are not eligible for the discounted upgrade. Instead, they must purchase the full PS5 remaster for $49.99.
The restriction on the $10 upgrade has sparked a wave of frustration among PS Plus subscribers, many of whom have taken to online forums to voice their disappointment. A notable thread on the PlayStation Plus subreddit is filled with comments from subscribers who express their willingness to pay $10 for the upgrade but are unwilling to pay the full price for the remastered version. This sentiment is echoed by users like squarejellyfish_, who pointed out that Sony could have earned additional revenue by allowing PS Plus players to upgrade for $10, even if just to try the game for a short period.
Other subscribers, such as teckn9ne79, have stated they would have opted for the $10 upgrade but will now forego the remaster entirely. Similarly, dredizzle99 and jackanyon95 criticized the decision, with the latter arguing that the game didn't even need a remaster and that Sony is missing out on potential sales from the PS Plus community.

Despite the backlash, some PS Plus subscribers understand Sony's financial strategy behind this decision, acknowledging that the company likely made this choice after careful consideration. However, Sony is facing criticism from its dedicated fanbase, who are labeling the move as "stingy" and had hoped for a more generous approach from PlayStation.
