June 2024 saw the release of a new trailer, showcasing intense zombie shootouts and post-apocalyptic vehicles reminiscent of the Mad Max series. The game's narrative will focus on human settlements battling the undead years after the apocalypse.

State of Decay 3 is slated for PC and Xbox Series X|S release. The previous installment launched in 2018.
