The New Denpa Men is returning to mobile devices! This quirky creature-collecting RPG, a 3DS favorite that later graced the Nintendo Switch, is set for a mobile comeback on March 10th for iOS and Android. Could this mark a global release?

Given Nintendo's recent mobile expansion, a Switch-to-smartphone port was inevitable. However, few anticipated it would be the wonderfully weird The New Denpa Men! Gematsu, known for its meticulous coverage of Japanese game releases, broke the news. This new mobile version will reportedly retain the original's augmented reality (AR) features, utilizing the device's camera, just like its 3DS predecessor.

For those unfamiliar, The Denpa Men was an early 3DS title, an AR-based RPG where players collected the eponymous radio wave-dwelling creatures from the real world and battled them in dungeons.

While not a household name like Mario or Zelda, The Denpa Men franchise has a history on Nintendo platforms. This isn't Genius Sonority's first mobile foray either; they previously released The New Denpa Men on mobile before its Switch remaster. Yes, we're potentially looking at a rerelease of a mobile game, remastered for the Switch, now returning to mobile. It's certainly... unique.

Interestingly, the original The New Denpa Men was Japan-only. The Switch version, however, had a global launch. This mobile rerelease might finally bring the quirky RPG to a worldwide audience.
