At DIGIMON CON 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled exciting developments for the Digimon franchise, including a new mobile trading card game (TCG) named Digimon Alysion and further details on the upcoming Digimon Story: Time Stranger.

Digimon Alysion: A New Mobile TCG in Development

On March 20, during the DIGIMON CON 2025 livestream, Bandai Namco introduced Digimon Alysion, a fresh addition to the mobile TCG market. This game aims to capture the enthusiasm generated by successful mobile TCGs like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap. Digimon Alysion is designed as a free-to-play digital trading card game where enthusiasts can collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters from the franchise, craft their decks, and engage in battles with other players. What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its promise of an in-depth story mode, enhancing the gaming experience beyond typical and competitive play.

The newly released trailer for Digimon Alysion offers a glimpse into its gameplay and introduces an intriguing all-female cast for the speculated story mode. Characters such as Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, alongside a new Digimon named Gemmon, were highlighted. Although no specific release date has been announced, a closed beta test is on the horizon, with further details to be shared later.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger - More Details Unveiled

The event also shed light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger, with producer Ryosuke Hara providing insights into the game's background, main characters, and the unique abilities of some featured Digimon. Hara confirmed that players can select from three starter Digimon at the game's outset: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, all beloved characters from the original Digimon Adventure anime.

Time Stranger boasts an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, surpassing its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory, which included 330 Digimon. The new trailer showcased some of these Digimon, including Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the fan-favorite Agumon.

Hara also introduced the game's narrative and key characters. Players can choose between two protagonists, Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, who are secret agents for the organization ADAMAS, tasked with uncovering threats to both humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon, will join players on their journey. The game's title hints at a focus on time travel, with the protagonist navigating through different eras.

In addition to these major announcements, DIGIMON CON 2025 featured a 25th Anniversary PV for the Digimon Anime, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and the announcement of a new anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025.
