On the third day of this year's Anime Expo in Los Angeles, California, Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio hosted the Essence of Fandom: Like a Dragon & Yakuza Experience. The event, moderated by Linda "VampyBitMe" Le, featured Like a Dragon Chief Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto and the voice actor of Ichiban Kasuga, Kazuhiro Nakaya.

During the event, studio representatives tantalized fans with hints about their upcoming game, stating, "We can’t tell you what kind of game it is, but I will tell you, you’ll be surprised." This intriguing tease was captured and shared by user @TheYakuzaGuy on Twitter, who confirmed that the studio is working on a new entry in the Like a Dragon series.

Given that the seventh mainline game in the series shifted to a full-on JRPG format, moving away from the traditional action beat 'em up style, the promise of another "surprising" entry sparks curiosity. This could potentially mean a variety of new directions, such as a rhythm game centered around the beloved karaoke mini-game, a spin-off focusing on other characters from the series, or even a remake or sequel to previous spin-offs like Yakuza: Dead Souls or the Japan-exclusive Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan.
