Among Us has rolled out its v17.0.0 update, introducing two new roles and a surprise collaboration with Genshin Impact. Innersloth has added one role for Crewmates and another for Impostors, altering the dynamics of every Emergency Meeting and sabotage.

Who are the new roles?

For the Crewmates, it's the Detective; for the Impostors, it's the Viper. The Detective is the first Crewmate role equipped with two distinct abilities. Using 'Notes,' you can document a body's location, compile a suspect list, and identify the type of Impostor you're facing.

Additionally, the 'Interrogate' ability allows you to question other Crewmates about their activities during the incident. There is a limit to simultaneous interrogations. If multiple murders occur, you'll need to switch between cases.

The Viper, conversely, equips an Impostor with a vicious new acid-based trick. Victims of the Viper don't leave a standard corpse. Instead, they dissolve in three stages until only bones remain, and eventually, nothing is left.

If coordinated with a sabotage, the kill can vanish entirely before anyone calls a meeting. Advanced settings allow hosts to control the dissolution speed. The role also features a unique kill animation to match the gruesome effect.
