Private Servers Offered From Day One

Rentable Private Servers Available Immediately

Funcom has confirmed rentable private servers will be available when Dune: Awakening launches. A June 2 Steam blog post detailed server functionality and rental options.

Speculation about private servers circulated for months before official confirmation. During Funcom's February 2025 Q&A, Director Joel Bylos hinted at post-launch implementation due to development uncertainties.

However, Funcom's recent announcement reveals accelerated progress. Private servers maintain connectivity with official servers through social hubs and the Deep Desert zone.

Each rented server hosts a Hagga Basin instance while remaining connected to broader Worlds containing other servers. Players can select their preferred World when renting.

"Private server players retain full access to Dune: Awakening's multiplayer features, including social spaces and Deep Desert encounters across connected servers," Funcom explained.

Configurable server settings include PvP zones, taxation mechanics, and sandstorm frequency. Administrative controls and character transfers will be implemented post-launch.

Third-party providers GPORTAL, Nitrado, and xREALM handle rentals and pricing independently from Funcom's oversight.

Innovative Server Architecture

"Our architecture creates interconnected worlds preserving neighborhood communities while enabling survival mechanics and persistent construction," Funcom described.

"We blend survival elements with massive multiplayer interactions across shared spaces accommodating hundreds of players simultaneously."

"Maintaining large-scale multiplayer was essential - releasing limited private servers wasn't acceptable," clarified Funcom representatives.

This hybrid model prioritizes multiplayer integration despite offering fewer configuration options than traditional MMO private servers.

Launch-day private servers provide additional gameplay flexibility for exploring Arrakis. Dune: Awakening releases June 10, 2025 for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions following later.
