EA Passes on New Dead Space Project

Developers Remain Hopeful for Future Installment

The prospects for Dead Space 4 are uncertain, as Glen Schofield disclosed in an interview that EA turned down their proposal for the next chapter in the beloved sci-fi horror series. Speaking with Dan Allen Gaming on YouTube, Schofield, joined by developers Christopher Stone and Bret Robbins, confirmed that Dead Space 4 is not moving forward.

The discussion began when Stone shared that his son, a recent Dead Space player, was thrilled by the game and pleaded, "Please tell me you’re working on another Dead Space!" Stone could only laugh and respond, "I wish we were."

The trio revealed they pitched a fourth Dead Space game to EA earlier this year, but the publisher quickly dismissed the idea. "We didn’t get far. They said, ‘We’re not interested at the moment, thanks anyway,’ and that was it," Schofield explained. "We respect their decision—they know their priorities and market demands." Stone noted the industry’s current cautious approach, especially toward older franchises.

Despite the success of last year’s Dead Space remake, which earned an 89 on Metacritic and a Very Positive rating on Steam, EA appears hesitant to invest in a new title for the franchise. "They have their metrics and goals to meet," Schofield reiterated.

Still, the developers remain optimistic about Dead Space 4’s future. "Maybe someday—we’d all jump at the chance," Stone said, with his colleagues in agreement. Though now working on separate projects, Schofield, Robbins, and Stone are eager to revisit Dead Space with fresh ideas, hopeful that the iconic horror series will one day return.
