EA’s highly anticipated Skate revival is incorporating microtransactions into its latest alpha test, adding a new layer to the free-to-play experience. According to Insider Gaming, developer Full Circle has introduced a virtual currency called San Van Bucks, used to purchase cosmetic items. The aim, it seems, is to thoroughly test the microtransaction system and ensure a positive player experience before the early access launch. Full Circle has emphasized the importance of player feedback in refining this system. Importantly, players should note that all progress will be reset before early access begins, with any purchases made during the alpha test converted back into San Van Bucks for use upon launch.

Skate's early access launch is slated for 2025. Initially announced at EA Play in 2020, the game was then in very early development. Since then, Full Circle has maintained consistent communication with the community through closed playtests and its informative "The Board Room" video series, providing regular updates on the game's progress. The official title, simply "skate," was revealed in 2022, along with confirmation of its free-to-play status across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms.
