Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously common in FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision, citing the game's shorter, approximately forty-minute play sessions. He stated that the limited playtime doesn't allow sufficient opportunity for players to leave or read messages.

This departure from FromSoftware's tradition of message-based player interaction is noteworthy, given its past success in enhancing player experience. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.

To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. While retaining the distinctive atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring world, it promises a fresh adventure with its own challenges and encounters.
