In the latest installment of Nintendo’s *Creator’s Voice* series, *Final Fantasy VII Remake* series director Naoki Hamaguchi shared exciting news for fans: *Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade* is headed to the Switch 2. This marks a significant step in bringing one of Square Enix’s most celebrated RPGs to Nintendo’s upcoming hybrid platform.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is the enhanced PlayStation 5 version of the 2020 PS4 title, which launched the ambitious remake trilogy reimagining the iconic 1997 PlayStation RPG. The updated version features improved graphics, lighting, and performance, along with the *Intermission* DLC—a side story focusing on Yuffie Kisaragi's introduction to the world of Midgar.

Currently available on PS5 and PC, *Intergrade* will now be optimized for the Switch 2. According to Hamaguchi, the upgraded hardware capabilities of the Switch 2 make it feasible to run the game at full specs. “With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs,” he stated, highlighting how the system’s advancements open new doors for high-end ports.

He also emphasized the benefits of portable gameplay: “Being able to play this game on the Switch 2 in handheld mode means you can play it on the train while commuting to work.” He added that the mobility factor makes it easier for players to show off their progress and discuss the game directly with friends.

The Switch 2 version will support GameChat, allowing real-time voice communication and screen sharing with friends—an enhancement aimed at improving social interaction among players. “I’m very excited to see this game playable on a portable system,” Hamaguchi said enthusiastically, expressing optimism about strengthening the partnership between Nintendo and the *Final Fantasy* brand.

While only *Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade* has been officially confirmed for Switch 2 so far, Hamaguchi concluded by saying, “I hope players are looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2.” This statement hints that future entries like *Rebirth* and the final chapter may also arrive on the platform as they are released.

It’s worth noting that the *Final Fantasy* franchise began its legacy on Nintendo consoles. After shifting to PlayStation with FFVII in 1997—the first fully 3D entry in the series—it seems fitting that the remake trilogy will finally bring the game back to Nintendo hardware.
