Feral Interactive has just rolled out the massive Imperium Update, enhancing your gameplay experience with a host of tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life features. This update, which hit Android in 2018, brings a wealth of new elements to the game, and the same update is slated to come to the standalone expansions Barbarian Invasion and Alexander next week.

What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?

The Imperium Update integrates some of the standout features from Feral's more recent mobile titles, such as *Total War: MEDIEVAL II* and *EMPIRE*. You now have three new control options at your fingertips: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These enhancements give you finer control over your units, making battles more strategic and precise. A simple tap and hold now allows you to move your army, agents, or fleets without the hassle of manually dragging paths.

Positioning Mode enables you to meticulously adjust unit placements with a tap and hold action. The Group Grid feature simplifies the management of unit groups through a collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode is particularly handy, allowing your ranged units to switch to close combat when the situation demands it.

One of the game-changing features in this update is Command Slowdown, which automatically slows the game when you're issuing complex orders, making it easier to manage your troops during critical moments. Additionally, for the first time, you can now use keyboard and mouse support on Android (and iPad) for a more PC-like gaming experience.

The minimap in *ROME: Total War* has been revamped to mirror the smoother zooming and navigation seen in *MEDIEVAL II*. A new reset button offers a quick way to return to the default view, enhancing your map navigation experience.
