To start your fishing journey, chat with Kanya at the Forest Base Camp in the Scarlet Forest (accessible in Chapter 1). She's by the pond, fishing rod in hand. Talking to her unlocks the fishing rod, the Common Wood Minnow lure, and initiates the "Fishing: Life, in Microcosm" sidequest. This quest is the first of many, ultimately unlocking various baits needed to catch the rarest fish.
