ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition's Roaring Success

ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, a free-to-play mobile game, achieved a remarkable feat, surpassing three million downloads within just three weeks of its December 18, 2024 launch. This spin-off of the popular 2017 title, ARK: Survival Evolved, is making waves on iOS and Android platforms.

Despite receiving mixed reviews upon release, the game's popularity continues to surge. This mirrors the success of the original ARK: Survival Evolved, which exceeded one million downloads even before its official launch. The original's popularity led to a remastered version, ARK: Survival Ascended, released in early access in 2023. Grove Street Games, the developer behind the mobile edition, has built upon the franchise's success with this latest iteration, offering players a familiar survival experience featuring resource gathering, crafting, base building, and dinosaur taming.

On January 10, 2025, publisher Snail Games announced the impressive three-million download milestone, representing a 100% increase compared to the 2018 mobile port of ARK: Survival Evolved. Furthermore, Grove Street Games confirmed ongoing development of new content, including maps like Ragnarok, Extinction, and both Genesis parts, expanding the dinosaur-filled world.

Strong Performance Across Mobile Platforms

ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition's strong download numbers are further validated by its climbing popularity rankings. At the time of writing, it holds the 24th position in iOS adventure games and 9th in Android's top-grossing adventure games. While user reviews are mixed (3.9/5 on App Store, 3.6/5 on Play Store), this launch represents another significant achievement for Grove Street Games, following their successful 2022 Nintendo Switch port of ARK: Survival Evolved.

Expanding accessibility, ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition is slated for release on the Epic Games Store in 2025, offering players additional download options. With Studio Wildcard recently outlining a roadmap for ARK: Survival Ascended and upcoming announcements anticipated regarding ARK 2, the future of the ARK franchise looks promising.
