Microsoft Edge unveils its innovative in-game browser, Edge Game Assist, designed to enhance the PC gaming experience. This preview version aims to streamline gameplay by eliminating the need to alt-tab out of games to access browser information. Read on to discover its game-aware features.

A Seamless Gaming Browser Experience

Edge Game Assist, a gaming-optimized browser, addresses the common frustration of PC gamers who frequently use browsers during gameplay. Microsoft's research indicates that a significant percentage of players use browsers for help, tracking progress, music, or communication, often requiring them to switch away from their game. Edge Game Assist solves this by providing a browser overlay accessible through the Game Bar.

This in-game browser offers a rich gaming-centric experience, seamlessly integrating with your existing Edge data. Your bookmarks, history, cookies, and auto-fill information are readily available without requiring re-logins. The overlay ensures smooth transitions, eliminating the disruption of alt-tabbing.

A key feature is the "game-aware tab page," intelligently suggesting game guides and tips. Microsoft acknowledges that many players seek in-game assistance, and this feature aims to simplify the process by providing relevant information instantly. Users can even pin this tab for real-time access to guides.

Currently in beta, the automatic guide suggestion feature supports a selection of popular titles, including Baldur's Gate 3, Diablo IV, Fortnite, Hellblade II: Senua's Saga, League of Legends, Minecraft, Overwatch 2, Roblox, and Valorant. Microsoft plans to expand game compatibility over time.

To access Edge Game Assist, download the Edge Beta or Preview version, set it as your default browser, and then locate and install the Game Assist widget within the browser's settings. Enjoy a more integrated and efficient gaming experience!
