HBO has released initial images showcasing Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, although neither actor is seen in the iconic emerald green suit. Observant fans, however, can spot a Power Ring on Chandler's hand, hinting at the superhero elements to come.

"Lanterns" is set to be a gripping detective drama, drawing inspiration from acclaimed series like "True Detective" and "Slow Horses." The show will follow Hal Jordan, portrayed by Kyle Chandler, teaming up with John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, as they delve into a murder investigation that spirals into a deeper, more sinister mystery. This series is a key component of James Gunn's expansive DC universe, which also includes "Creature Commando" and the upcoming films "Superman" and "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow."

The project has been developed by Damon Lindelof, known for his work on "Lost," along with Chris Mundy and Tom King.
