Happy Gilmore 2 has claimed the biggest U.S. weekend debut for a Netflix film ever, while KPop Demon Hunters is now the platform’s all-time most-watched animated feature.

The Adam Sandler sequel attracted more than 46.7 million views in its first three days, making it the most successful weekend opening for any Sandler film on Netflix to date. That's a notable achievement, given the comedian's long history of hits with the streamer. Not to be outdone, KPop Demon Hunters, released on June 20, is also making a major splash on the charts.

The animated musical has indeed become Netflix’s most-viewed animated film of all time. It even reached what the service calls a “new viewing peak” during its fifth week on the platform. This past week, KPop Demon Hunters pulled in a strong 26.3 million views, though that figure remains well below the record-setting start of Sandler’s latest.

Nevertheless, both titles are performing exceptionally well for Netflix and resonating strongly with viewers. It’s evident they will continue to draw large audiences and potentially break even more records for the streaming giant.

Happy Gilmore 2 is the long-awaited follow-up to the 1996 comedy about an unconventional hockey player who turns to professional golf to save his grandmother’s home from foreclosure. Sandler returns in the lead role, joined by original cast members Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller, Dennis Dugan, and Kevin Nealon.

KPop Demon Hunters is a new animated musical fantasy that follows the girl group Huntr/x, who perform as pop stars by day and battle demons by night. The voice cast features Daniel Dae Kim and Yujin Kim from Lost, comedian Ken Jeong, Teen Wolf’s Arden Cho, and several acclaimed South Korean actors and singers.
