The incident, which occurred while their PC was in sleep mode, resulted in significant damage to the mouse (the top rear panel melted completely), their desk, and even their modular synthesizer.

The mouse, a seemingly standard wired model with no internal battery and powered by a low-voltage USB 2.0 connection, malfunctioned catastrophically.
