The much-anticipated Heart of Democracy update for *Helldivers 2* is now live on PC and PlayStation 5, bringing the Illuminate invasion to Super Earth. As previously leaked, players can now engage in missions set in the Mega Cities of our home planet, joining forces with SEAF soldiers to push back the enemy threat.

The new city biomes introduce operations focused on liberating the cities, which Arrowhead, the game's developer, claims will have "a significant impact on planetary campaigns." These operations are integrated into the ongoing Galactic War, a community-driven meta narrative that Arrowhead skillfully manages.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the Helldivers are now tasked with repelling the Illuminate invasion by gaining control over areas where the enemy fleet is landing. This new objective promises a challenging, dynamic struggle akin to an intergalactic tug-of-war.

Players can now activate Planetary Defense Cannons to combat the Illuminate fleet, as demonstrated in the trailer. Additionally, SEAF troops will assist in defending the cities, either fighting independently or following Helldivers to provide temporary support as they move towards objectives. It's crucial to remain vigilant of civilians still present in the streets, as *Helldivers 2* emphasizes careful management of friendly fire alongside combat.

The Heart of Democracy update is a testament to Arrowhead's dedication to *Helldivers 2*, reflecting their commitment to sustaining the game for years following its record-breaking launch. Addressing concerns about shifting focus to a new project, "Game 6," Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani reassured players that *Helldivers 2* remains the studio's primary focus.

"Nah. It's ALL Helldivers 2 for now," Jorjani stated. "A very, very small team will spin up something later this year and go at it slowly. Helldivers is our main focus and will be for a loooong time."

When asked how long content updates for *Helldivers 2* might continue, Jorjani emphasized player support: "As long as you folks keep playing and buying Super Credits we can keep it going," referencing the game's virtual currency used to purchase Premium Warbonds. He noted that despite challenges last summer, the game's future looks promising due to continued player support.
