Insomniac Games founder and outgoing president Ted Price recently revealed in an interview with Kinda Funny Games that there was a significant effort to develop Resistance 4, although the project ultimately did not receive approval. As Price prepares to retire after 30 years leading the studio, he shared that the team at Insomniac was deeply passionate about expanding the Resistance universe further. He explained that the concept for Resistance 4 was compelling, but due to timing and market conditions, it did not come to fruition. Price emphasized the potential of the Resistance series, which is set in an alternate history where the alien Chimera invade the UK in 1951, noting that it offered a rich backdrop for storytelling about the Chimera's origins and future.

The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac following their work on Ratchet and Clank, consists of three first-person shooter games released for the PlayStation 3. After the Resistance trilogy, Insomniac shifted focus to other successful projects, including Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.

Earlier this year, Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games and named Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as the new Co-Studio Heads. The studio's latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has recently been made available on PC, and Insomniac is currently working on Marvel’s Wolverine.
